return to cover page ` INTRODUCTION My personal sense of dignity is not derived from society'sperception of my value as a human being. The principles I upholdare implied by life itself. Honor and duty are not determined byanyone, or everyone, else. It is honorable to live in harmony withthe earth. It is not honorable to suffer humiliation as the price oflife. That which is due, is due only to the givers of life; the Sunand the Earth, the Universe of which we are a part. Our duty is to liveand die as conscious and aware planetary beings... and to do no harm tothe source of life. The Planet, ultimately, can come to no harm by the efforts of sosmall a part of itself as the human race. We can poison our environmentsufficiently to kill ourselves and perhaps many other planetary forms. But we cannot destroy the matter and energy that form the planet itself. How best, though, to save our own skins? Most of the damage is done inthe name of profit. Those who profit the most have the ability to do themost damage. These same profit pigs humiliate and exploit us in theprocess of destroying life. We are offered interim survival as a rewardfor serving our lords but they make no real contribution to society. They have even bought managers to oversee us and other professionals tocreate new profit making ideas and devices for them to use in the neverending pursuit of wealth. I am offended and humiliated by finding exploitation and abusewherever it takes place, but especially when I am the victim! It ispainful and humiliating to admit I am a victim. Our political andeconomic system victimizes most of us. The only power I have toresist victimization is to refuse to cooperate with the system. Thatis the only power anyone has at the moment. As yet our energy isinsufficiently exercised and focused. But it is enough to destroythe system if we gather it and use it together. The belief that we owe a debt to society for our right to existis so ingrained it is an automatic response to any who question theright of such a society to exist. A society which faithfully servesonly a small minority of it's members. We are conditioned from birth to automatically and thoughtlessly assume obligations and duties associated with the fact of our existence. We are requested by nature only to survive. But humanity, or more precisely, a small minority of humans, impose another set of accountabilities, designed to improve their material well being. These notions are implanted as concepts of morality, nationalism and by intimidation; or any invention that is opportune. The false senses of duty and the propriety of conformity arecontinually reinforced through schools, news media, movies, books andtelevision. We are made to believe, falsely, the current systemserves us as well as them. Many of us are well cared for, even pampered. I have beenwell cared for at times. But the knowledge that my contributions tosociety benefit a small minority of the population more than myselfor society as a whole is intolerable. It is onerous to me regardlessof how well or poorly the system deals with me. It is virtual slavery! An example (one of many possible) of how slavery is made morecomplete and inescapable due to the monopolization, by our system, ofthe means of survival of all humans: there is no place on the planetthat one may occupy and live without the consent of society. This iseffected by conditioning the populace to dogmatically worship private property within ownership concepts accepted and taken for granted. Alternative land use is not tolerated. Within the society itis hardly possible. Unless you rent or purchase land you have no rightto live. Our failure to even question this system, our naive belief init's righteousness, guarantee perpetual servitude by the majority.Service the minority, our lords, take for granted is their due...and our duty. Only by personally rethinking our beliefs can freedom from thevirtual slavery most of us are born to, become possible. We must seethe malady before we can cure it. If you comprehend the purpose ofour system and your role therein sufficiently to long for freedom, then you need to continue to perfect your thoughts and communicatethem to others. Especially, if like me, you are prone to backslidinginto patterns of thought prescribed by the conditioning process wehave all undergone. Perhaps not everyone is ready to begin cleansingtheir mind of a lifetime's accumulation of automatic responses whichserve as a substitute for thinking. You should still read on with as open a mind as you can muster. The purpose of behavioral conditioning of the majority is tomaintain the economic status quo; the enrichment of the minority.Despite their protestations to the contrary the system does not workfor us. It only works for them. They, the wealthy minority, arecompletely self interested. They will waste us physically, mentallyand spiritually to attain their ends. They will destroy the verysource of life in their blind greed. That is, they will wreck ourcommon heritage, the planet itself. Their stupidity is exceeded onlyby ours in permitting them to continue to rule us. And that is the only point worth noting. We allow this to happen! We believe them when they tell us this is the best system possible. Well, many of us still believe. As you probably noticed I'm no longer a truebeliever. Now I intend to tell you and anyone else who will listen what Ihave come to believe about the world of humanity. Along the way I'lldescribe a possible means (or one means) by which we came to be in thestate we're in. It serves no purpose other than to aid in understandingour situation. I don't like scapegoating! It is a weakness of our society. Fixing the blame seldom repairs anything. (An exception occurs whenparties are engaged in creating or extending a problem. In that case, identifying the responsible group or individual may lead to a solution.)Understanding our society, though, may lead to uncovering faults that canbe fixed. Remember, it is more important to know where we are than how wegot here!APPENDIX A This document may be copied and distributed freely if and only ifit is copied in it's entirety, including title page and appendicesand no charge, monetary or otherwise beyond reasonable copiing andtransmission expenses, is made. But since I am unemployed (EE) and homeless I spend a lotof time simply struggling to survive. I want to ask you to help by makinga monetary gift to me so that I may spend more time writing. If you care to help to provide me with the purchasing power Iwill need to continue to reflect on problems and communicate theproducts of my thoughts to you. agkaiser1@gmail,com If you are so kind as to send $25.00 or more I will place you ona list (unless you ask me not to) of persons to be made chartermembers of "A SOCIETY OF CULTURAL REFORMERS"; should suchan organization ever be formed and should I be in a position to do so. The preceding is to me a better stratagem for survival thanstanding on a street corner with a sign indicating that "I will writefor food". I prefer this less humiliating form of begging. Thank you, Greg Kaiser
